Town News Now is a growing network of hyperlocal information outlets serving communities across Massachusetts. We use technology to solve a problem that's been getting worse for years: the collapse of local journalism has left residents in the dark about what's happening in their own towns.
Our Story
Town News Now was founded by a few local government nuts who spent years attending town meetings, reading municipal minutes, and trying to stay informed about their communities. We watched local newspapers shrink and disappear. We saw important decisions get made with almost no public awareness. And we got frustrated with how slowly information moved from town hall to the people it affected.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we built one.
Using AI and automation, we created a system that monitors public information sources, processes them quickly, and delivers clear, readable content to residents the way we would want to receive it ourselves. Our family of websites brings this approach to each community we serve.
How It Works
We're not a traditional newsroom. We rely on our own automated platform to monitor agendas, meetings and minutes. We then use cutting edge technologies to summarize important information quickly to residents faster and more reliably than ever before.
