Action News 5 Food Drive was in Bartlett on Dec. 7

Anna Marie Hartman was on hand collecting non-perishable food and donations from generous Bartlettonians at the Wal Mart on Hwy 64 on Dec.7 for the Mid-South Food Bank. The Food Bank can turn $1 in donation into over $4 in groceries. The truck was filing up as people brought food. Anna Marie was surrounded by students from Bolton and St. Benedicts. Both schools gave generous donations.

There is nothing like a good book at a great price!

The Friends of the Library held a booksale October 28 and October 29 to make room for new books at the library. What great deals there were to find. All hard backs for $1 each. Mostly fiction ranging from sci-fi to romance the selection was outstanding. It wasn't the usual time for a sale, but room was needed at the library. Friends of the Library is an outstanding civic organization.

Bartlett Senior Center Opens New Exercise Room

After much anticipation, on Wednesday, May 11, the Bartlett Senior Center opened their new exercise room. This will give the center an additional 576 sq ft of space to accommodate their growing membership and the high interest in physical fitness. The space being used was once where the jail cells were located when the building was used as Bartlett City Hall and where court was held. This expansion will also provide additional space to expand the billiards room with space that was formally the exercise room.

Mayor McDonald along with the Center Staff and members were on hand to cut the ribbon.

Bartlett Police Clean Up Remnants of Meth Lab

By Dawn Boone
Several units of the Bartlett Police Department were very busy Thursday, March 17, cleaning up the remnants of a meth lab located in west Bartlett. On one of Bartlett's busier residential streets a deadly drug had taken up residence. Neighbors were surprised as crime scene tape went up. The police on scene donned gas masks and began the clean up. Containers started coming out of the home and the Clandestine Lab Response Team Truck was there to haul the containers away.
Bartlett Police work hard to keep meth (methamphetamine) out of Bartlett, but the drug knows no boundaries. It is an ongoing battle.
The home the lab was taken out of in west Bartlett is about 100 yards from the school bus stop for neighborhood kids. Neighbors were all shocked that a meth lab had once been in operation so close to where their children play.
This is still an ongoing investigation by the Bartlett Police Department.

Tree Planting for Arbor Day

Arbor Day celebration was held at the new Davies Plantation Park on Tennessee Arbor Day, Friday, March 4. The City of Bartlett has been a tree city for 4 years. Mayor McDonald and others help plant a new tree in the park. Pictured from left to right are Bartlett resident Spencer Snow, Shawn Posey with Tree City USA , David Thompson / Director of Parks & Recreation, Rick McClanahan / Director of Engineering, Mayor A. Keith McDonald and Bartlett resident John Condy and  his daughter Carly.

Recently, Steve Sims, Commander of Amerian Legion Post 249, and Nancy Sims, West Tennessee Vice President and Treasurer of Auxiliary Unit 249, presented Martin Yeomans, Administrator of Rainbow Rehab and Health in Bartlett , a new American Flag for the facility.

The Christmas Tree at City Hall was absolutely beautiful again this year. The village that was added last year was back again adding to it's elegance and charm. Alan Helms and family are responsible for the fantastic addition of the village that was on display to lift our Christmas spirit. The Helms take great care in presenting the village which has been on display at different locations over the years before coming to Bartlett during the holiday season. Each item on display worked, including a miniature ferriswheel and other fanciful, interesting things.
